The Kano\Jigawa Command of the Nigerian Customs Service has exceeded the targeted half year revenue generation by N681,545,811:95 on the expected N7,389,024,423:42.
This was revealed by the Customs Area Controller Kano\Jigawa, Yusuf Abba Kasim while addressing newsmen in Kano.
He added that the Command has also generated N266,944,264:00 as Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the anti-smuggling activities.
Making a breakdown, the Area Commander listed items banned from importation that were seized along inland boarders that include 41 units of motor vehicles, 8,677 bags of 50kg rice, 884 cartons of foreign spaghetti and 1,955 Jerry cans of vegetable oil.
Other items include 29 bales of secondhand clothes, 24 cartons of foreign soap, 103 50kg bags of sugar, 11 sacks of assorted handbags and 788 sacks of assorted used shoes.
Although the Command is yet to reveal the monetary value of all the seized items, Controller Abba explained that the command will not relent in its effort of fighting against smuggling and other evasions of duties and charges.
