The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial zone Shehu Sani has described the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ASUP as justified.
He made the statement on his Twitter handle in response to the indefinite strike embarked upon by the union today.
“The strike embarked upon by the polytechnic lecturers under ASUP is justified” he stated.
He further explained that demands being put in place by the lecturers are reasonable adding that the courses of persistent strikes in the country are caused by breaches of agreements met between the government and the Unions.
“The demands of the lecturers are reasonable and rational.
“Incessant strikes results from incessant breaches” he explained.
The Senator called on the Nigerian government to to respect and honor agreements between it and the Unions.
“The Federal Government should honour the agreement reached” he said.
It would be recalled that ASUP has embarked upon an indefinite strike recently pending when the Nigerian government meets to a set of agreements between the two parties.
It also accused the Federal Government and the minister education Malam Adamu Adamu of of being insensitive to their plight.
