Kano community to benefit from Free LG Wash Centre

About 10,000 people are going to benefit from the newly installed free washing center located at the GRA in Kano where thousands of clothes could be washed for free using state of the the art technology.
LG Electronics has reiterated its commitment to drive sustainability through its nationwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and intervention to Kano State. The company recently commissioned a new Free Wash Centre

located at the LG Fouani showroom on 1 Race Course road, GRA with the aim of supporting communities lacking adequate water to efficiently carry out laundry activities as well as encourage a proper hygienic living.

The laundry cabin is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to effectively take care of laundry needs of the people for free. The facility with several LG Washing machines, LG Dryers, LG Air Conditioning units, uninterrupted power supply, constant supply of water among others is to ensure that the facility operates seamlessly.
Officials said, the new Free Wash Centre becomes the third laundry cabin launched by LG Electronics since the opening of the state-of-the-art facilities in Lagos in April 2018 and Port Harcourt in May 2019 respectively.
According to Mr. Hari Elluru, Head of Corporate Marketing Division, LG Electronics West Africa, the free wash centre is designed to operate on a daily basis in order to improve the living conditions as well as support the daily washing needs of people in the area.
“LG Electronics has over the years continued to receive commendation from Nigerian consumers for having their interest at heart in the development of cutting edge technological products. In almost two years of operating both free wash centres, LG has served over 25,000 people and washed more than 190,000 set of clothes”, he said.

Nigerian Army Needs Total Overhaul -Naja’atu

Expressing her disappointment concerning the unfortunate posture of lack of performance of the Nigerian Army as regards their inability to protect Nigerians, a call for total overhaul of the Nigerian Army was made.

The call was made by a politician and and rights activist, Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad while delivering an address organized by the Bring Back Our Girls, BBOG movement at the Yar’adua Center in Abuja.

The theme of the event which had in attendance a one time running mate of President Muhammad Buhari, Pastor Tunde Bakari, is “towards a just and good society”.

Naja’atu described those who attach sectional, religious or tribal sentiments to problems being faced by Nigerians as part of the problem the country is facing.

She spoke against the irresponsibility and lack of performance of the Nigerian government adding that we don’t have a nation as governance has failed in Nigeria.

In his speech, Pastor Bakare condemned what the Nigerian president said about his wife belonging to the kitchen and the bedroom as an insult to women in Africa while he stood before the international community next to the most powerful woman in the world.

He said women are not meant to be caged, they have brains and can perform even better than many men and must be allowed to play roles of responsibility.

The leader of the BBOG, Oby Ezekwesili called for more to be done to free the missing girls.

Armed Bandits strike Birnin-Gwari Again

About two dozens armed bandits on motorbikes, brandishing AK-47 and other weapons, had attacked Layin-lasan village in Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna State this Monday afternoon.

The village which is about 96 kilometers from Birnin-Gwari along Birnin-Gwari-Funtua road, come under attack of armed bandits around 1.43 pm local time.

Three people were seriously wounded at Layin-lasan while another person sustained multiple gun shot at the neoghbouring village of Layin-Nakurmi.

Around 2.35pm,local vigilantes and volunteers from kuyello district succeeded in repelling the attack, forcing the bandits to flee to Hamada forest in sabuwa local government area of Katsina State.

A resident of the area, Mallam Shu’aibu, confirmed the incident saying:” The Armed bandits came earlier lady week and surrounded their village but later disappeared. ” He lament lack of presence of security personnel in the area.

Birnin-Gwari has continued to make headlines of armed banditry, Cattle rustling and Kidnapping. At the moment major villages in Eastern part of Birnin-Gwari such as Kirazo, Layin Mai Gwari, kwalakwangi, part of kazage district have deserted their homes to safe zone within Kaduna and Katsina states.
